Komagata Shrine |
Komagata Shrine, known affectionately as "Komagata-san" among the locals, has long been celebrated as the guardian deity of the Hakone region. The main entrance path to Komagata Shrine is festooned with a Koshin pagoda and red banners denoting the Hakone seven deities of Hakone and stones depicting to the Buddhist demon-god Shomen Kongo. The serene main temple is reached via an easy set of steps. The Komagata Shrine complex includes Bishamondo (dedicated to one of the seven deities), Inuzuka Myojin (associated with the old Hakone inns) and Minokasa Myojin (the deity responsible for ensuring a bountiful fish harvest from Lake Ashi). |
